This time, the dubbing video of Kana Hanazawa, who plays Iinaa, has been released.
Additionally, a time-lapse video of character art director Yoshiko Murayama drawing Iina has also been released.
The released footage is a rare glimpse into the dubbing process of a Pixar film, something that has rarely been released before.
In the newly released footage, Hanazawa plays a scene from Iina at the headquarters where emotions live inside the hardworking protagonist Riley. Each emotion has a role to play; Joy is to make Riley feel positive and happy, while Sadness is to protect Riley from things she cannot yet see and to plan for the future, but Iina’s role is to “stretch out on her small body and always be envious of someone.” She is also a character with the talent to find the good and wonderful points of others.
When something happens while Riley is spending time with her close friends or a senior she admires, Iinar will envy others, exclaiming with sparkling eyes, “Wow! That hair is so nice!” or she will cutely yet confidently sarcastically say, “Sorry for making you jealous.”
When Darry interjects, “Aren’t you worrying too much about everything?” to Iina, who is concerned about others due to her jealousy, she is shown sticking out her little tongue and sulking, letting out a “Meh!”, and is full of cuteness while still expressing the characteristics of her emotions.
Hanazawa passionately portrays this “Iina” not only with her voice, but also with her facial expressions and hand gestures.
A time-lapse video has been released showing Yoshiko Murayama, the character art director who designed “Iina,” drawing Iina.
Not only is I-Na’s cute visual appeal appealing to many on social media, with many people going crazy for him, saying things like “I-Na is just too cute!!!!”, “I-Na is now my favorite,” and “I-Na is so tiny and surprisingly cheeky and cute!”, but the character is also attracting attention for its resemblance to the popular member of the Korean idol group BTS, with comments like “I-Na looks just like Jungkook” and “I saw I-Na who is said to look like Jungkook, and he’s super cute!!”
Murayama smoothly draws these characters, beloved all over the world, on pure white colored paper, and talks about the appeal of the character he designed, Iiner, saying, “Iiner is small and cute, but I like the fact that he has a dual personality in that he has a burning fighting spirit of ‘I want that!'”
Envy’s most distinctive feature, its large, sparkling eyes, further enrich its ever-changing expressions. Murayama revealed the secret behind the design of Envy’s eyes, saying, “The original word for Envy is invidia, which is related to the eyes, so we made the eyes sparkle.”
