“Even though both myself and Near could have lived better?” We hope you enjoy your journey to another world together with the easily empathetic Near – Makoto Koichi, the voice of Near in “Isekai Shikkaku”, looks back on Episode 5 [Interview Series No. 5]A “certain great writer” isn’t transported to another world and defeats monsters… but rather, he remains a useless writer, but certainly has an impact on the other world. The anime adaptation of this unique work, “Isekai Shikkaku” (original story by Noda Hiroshi, art by Wakamatsu Takuhiro. Currently serialized in Shogakukan’s “Yawaraka Spirits”) has been airing to great acclaim since July!

In the fifth episode, which aired recently, the seven teleporters who defeated the Demon King of Wrath sent a statement to the Pope stating that they would transform the entire land of Zauberberg into an ideal world. The bishops, including Isha, consider the seven teleporters to be the “Seven Fallen Angels,” and while taking measures to deal with them, they named Sensei, who can send the teleporters back, and proposed a certain method.

Meanwhile, in a village where the group stops on their journey, they meet a boy named Nia, who introduces them to other teleporters. Annette, worried about Sensei, offers him a reward in order to recruit the brave teleporter, but ends up being tricked. However, Sensei and his friends learn that Nia is an orphan, and that he manages to survive by tricking travelers who stop by the village.

Nia is about to be executed after three bad teleporters steal all her money, but then Sensei appears. The bad teleporters see Sensei’s status and attack him, but when the teleporters say “I’ll kill you,” Sensei laughs and his HP rises rapidly, so Nia flees in fear of his abnormality. Nia is saved and begins to admire Sensei, becoming his traveling companion and swordsman.

Finally, the group arrives at Gruen Castle, Tama’s hometown, but the guards, upon seeing Tama, surround them and lock them up in a cell… What will happen to the teachers?

This is the final installment of our series of interviews with the voice actors that we have been delivering since the series first aired. This time, we have Makoto Koichi, who plays Nia, who meets Sensei and the others in episode 5 and travels with them.

He shared his impressions of the series, reflected on the just-aired fifth episode, and also recommended some books for readers.

–Please tell us your impressions and appeals of the work after reading the original work and performing in it.

Makoto Koichi (hereinafter, Koichi), who plays Near: The cover of the original comic and the preview PV for the anime exude a very serious atmosphere, but I thought it was a work full of very pop and interesting scenes. The serious parts often had me on the edge of my seat, or even moved me to tears.

The story had such a wonderful balance of pace that I enjoyed reading the original, and I thought it was such a fascinating piece that I was drawn into the world of the work every time we recorded.

–When you saw the main character’s teacher, did you ever think, “Huh? I feel like I’ve seen this person somewhere before”?

Koichi: Yes, that’s true! From his appearance to his aura, I thought “I might know him.”

–Even among the many other-worldly works out there, this one is quite unique.

Koichi: Personally, I laughed so hard at the scene where Sensei gets hit by a truck. The contrast between the old-fashioned feel and the moment he is transported to another world is amazing. It’s so funny!

–Koichi-san, were you able to smoothly enter the other world from that opening?

Koichi: I have a tolerance for other worlds, or rather, I often go to other worlds or I’m often in other worlds (laughs). I’m sure that people who often read other world stories or watch anime will be able to get into it without feeling out of place.

–Please tell us your impression of the character Nia and what similarities and charms you have with her.

Koichi: Nia had a difficult upbringing and was carrying a lot of weight for a child. She had been deceived by adults and experienced a lot of painful and unpleasant experiences, so when she met the teachers, she had a twisted, adult look in her eyes. But by interacting with the teachers, her original earnestness and her thoughts of “how I really want to be” began to show, and the sparkle in her eyes returned.

So I think he’s a character that viewers and readers will want to root for and watch over warmly. I myself felt that he was a character worth playing, and while I was acting, I was cheering him on in my heart, saying, “Nia, do your best!”
