–First of all, I’d like to ask you about how you two first met.

Masashi Takada (hereinafter, Takada): It was during my training school days. The first time I met him was at the rehearsal hall in Okubo called Sports Hall. It was around the time I was helping out with JAE’s graduation performance.

Kosuke Asai (hereinafter, Asai): It’s been 18 years already. We worked together on the set of “Sengoku BASARA”. The time I had the most in-depth conversation with Takada was on “Space Sheriff Gavan the Movie”. After that, I also remember working together on the V-Cinema of “Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters”.

–Please tell us what got you into this world and who your favorite special effects hero was as a child.

Takada: I’ve said this in many places, but the reason I joined was because I love Jean-Claude Van Damme and I admired him so much that I said “I want to do it!” and then, with my father’s encouragement, I found myself joining.

The special effects shows I watched as a kid, and the ones I watched and had toys for, were “Kakuranger” and “B-Robo Kabutack.” I had all the transforming toys for Kabutack.

Asai: When I was a child, I loved Kamen Rider BLACK and admired him.

When I entered high school, Kamen Rider Kuuga started, and I watched it on TV and fell in love with it. When I was in my hometown of Aichi, a high school classmate of mine was in a show team that did hero shows, and he introduced me to a part-time job, which is what led me to where I am now.

The reason I decided to join JAE was because I wanted to become a real Red on TV after doing the show, the year of “Dekaranger.” That was the biggest reason I decided to join the training school.

–What kind of training do you do on a daily basis?

Takada: Before, I would work, do a lot of muscle training, then do another job, and repeat that cycle over and over, but starting last year, I thought, “Oh, I can’t do this!” I realized I’m

not at that age anymore, so I’m doing muscle training to a degree that doesn’t make it too hard!

During the time of “Kyoryuger”, I was working out five times a week. Now, I only worked out for the first time this year about three or four days ago (laughs).

Asai: I walk for about an hour. I also swim in the pool regularly.

──I heard that you work out in between filming.

Takada: I do push-ups and pull-ups, and when I come to the studio for work I do muscle training. I also run around the studio.

Asai: That’s right. I’d sprint at full speed between work assignments (laughs).
