Along with the announcement, a teaser visual, teaser PV, staff information, comments from author Shigeru Sagazaki, illustrator Tetsuhiro Nabeshima (original novel), and manga artist Kazuki Kado (comic adaptation) have arrived. A newly drawn illustration commemorating the decision to make the series into a TV anime has also been released.

This is Beryl’s first anime illustration, and she is holding her sword with a serious expression. This teaser visual gives us the feeling of a fierce battle and the kind of action you would expect from a “sword saint.”
Starting in April 2025, the anime will be broadcast on TV Asahi’s nationwide 24 stations “IMAnimation” and BS Asahi!

At the beginning of the story, Beryl travels from the countryside to the royal capital. From her everyday training scenes, the footage gives us a glimpse of the swordplay and magical action that is the appeal of this work.
Based on a novel written by author Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrator Tetsuhiro Nabeshima, this hugely popular series has sold over 5.5 million copies in total, including the manga adaptation by Kazuki Toshiki!

Beryl Gardenant runs a small sword-fighting dojo in a rural village. One day, his former student, Aleucia, who rose to become the head of the Royal Knights at a young age, comes to visit him, and he travels to the royal capital as a special instructor for the Knights. This is a fantasy about an old man rising to power, in which the “master” of his strongest disciples is finally rewarded.
Soon after I started posting online, I was contacted by Square Enix, and then by Akita Shoten, and before I knew it, I had come this far.
The novel “A Country Old Man Becomes a Sword Saint” has finally been made into an anime.
It is all thanks to everyone who has continued to support us that we have come this far. We would like to express our deepest gratitude.
The director, scriptwriter, and everyone else involved in the production were patient and listened to what I had to say, even though I had no knowledge of anime.
I have high hopes that something good will come out of this.
I’ve been living without a television for about ten years now, but I’m thinking that this might be an opportunity to buy one.
I hope that the day will come when we can all enjoy this anime, together with everyone who has supported my work until now.
