Ghibli Park is a park facility located within the “Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park” in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture, that expresses the world of Studio Ghibli works. In addition to the “Ghibli Big Warehouse,” “Hill of Youth,” and “Dondoko Forest” that opened in November 2022, two new areas, “Mononoke Village” in November 2023 and “Valley of the Witches” in March 2024, will open, making it a total of five areas.

It has been revealed that new food items will be available at the park starting this summer. Rice Curry Croquettes will be available at the Guchoki Bakery in Witch’s Valley from July 17th. The Flying Oven restaurant, located just inside Witch’s Valley, will be serving an English Breakfast menu starting in July, available only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

In addition, Cafe Transcontinental Flight in Ghibli’s Large Warehouse has added a limited-edition sandwich called Pad Thai, available until the end of September, and four new flavors of gelato (cassata, lemon, mango, and chocolate). The types of gelato available in store will vary depending on the day you visit, but for the time being, one of the new flavors will be included among the six types of gelato available each day.

In addition, at “Rotunda Kazegaoka” located at the north entrance plaza of the Expo Memorial Park where Ghibli Park is located, “Natural Ice Chazuke (Shrimp Tempura)” and “Natural Ice Shaved Ice (Kurumi Mochi)” will be available as limited time menu items using natural ice. They are scheduled to be available from July 17th to the end of September.

In addition, the “Orionza Video Exhibition Room” in the Ghibli warehouse, which shows short animated films produced by Studio Ghibli on a monthly basis, has decided to show “Whale Catcher” in September. “Whale Catcher” is based on one of the stories in the children’s book “Iyaiyaen,” written by Nakagawa Rieko and illustrated by Omura Yuriko.

Director Hayao Miyazaki (the kanji for “tatsusaki” is pronounced “tatsusaki” in Japanese) has long wanted to turn this story, written by a child who is as he is, without the adult-like inconsistencies, into an animation, and it is the first of the original short films being screened in the “Saturn Theater” video exhibition room at the Ghibli Museum. Enjoy this film following “Monmon the Water Spider” in July and “Boro the Caterpillar” in August.

Tickets for Ghibli Park, a park facility that expresses the worldview of Studio Ghibli works, are available by reservation.
