The pictures that Eguchi draws… they delicately express the “anxiety , ” “skepticism , ” “anger” and “conflict” that lie deep within our psyches , and once you see them, they are so unique… so distinctive… that they capture the hearts of those who see them!
The many characters created by the artist Eguchi have now been made into an anime! The highly talked-about work “Egumi Legacy,” created in collaboration with Mori Masa, director of “Kaishain,” has been airing since July 2024.
The original character designs for this anime were created by Eguchi-sensei, and even one of the key visuals gives off a strange atmosphere with its unique worldview. Looking at the character introduction section on the official website, you’ll see that there are plenty of characters with their own quirks and quirks to poke fun at!
That’s why I want to understand “Egumi Legacy” deeply…! And I want to feel the passion, thoughts, and impulse that artist Eguchi and director Mori Masa put into this film…! That’s what I thought.

Who will get the End of the World? Egu Island is a floating island in the middle of the ocean. The only entertainment on this island is the singer End of the World. The villagers are enchanted by her singing every day.
However, such idyllic times are shattered in an instant.
-The Diva’s Disappearance-
Since this incident, the island has been filled with anger, suspicion, and anxiety. And so, each person’s motives begin to take shape… A great licking war over the End of the World! The fate of this war depends on… the legendary relic, the Evil Legacy.
The first episode begins with an intro featuring “Careless Hachibee (CV: Saito Soma),” “Golden Retriever (hereafter referred to as Retriever) (CV: Serizawa Yu),” and “Uninvited Guest (CV: Nishiyama Kotaro),” followed by a live performance by the “diva” End of the World (hereafter referred to as End-chan), the only form of entertainment on “Egu Island.”

本作のタイトルにもなっている“伝説の遺産”「エグミレガシー」。この遺産の正体が、本作最大の謎であり、物語の鍵と言えます。歌詞から読み取れる「エグミレガシー」の情報は
・「エグー島」に眠っている
・絶頂を教えてくれるほど強力な効果・影響力（？）を持つ
・「エグミレガシー」をめぐり、争いが起こったことがある
……らしい、ということ。これだけでは「エグミレガシー」がなんなのか、皆目検討もつきません。しかし、
寝言？ 真？ 全て見ていた星
寝言と真に「？」が付いているということは、この2つが綯い交ぜになっている状態ということ……？ 「エグミレガシー」が「絶頂を教えてくれる」ほどの強力ななにかであるとしたら、副作用的な効果もあると予想できます。「絶頂を教えてくれる」代償として、錯乱状態になってしまうとしたら、ある程度の辻褄が合うかもしれません。
そしてそれを全て見ていた星とは……。2024年7月初旬現在、アニメ『エグミレガシー』に登場することが決定しているキャラクターの中で「星」にまつわるキャラクターは、原案の江口拓也さんが演じる「レジェンダリー・ファイナル・クライマックス・ボム」ですが、果たして。

歌は進み、サビの部分。この部分だけ、「エグミレガシー」についての言及ではないような気がして、少しだけ違和感を覚えます。どうも、エンドちゃんが自分自身のことを歌っている気がしてなりません。
エンドちゃんはその見た目からしておそらく、ソフトクリームがモデルのキャラクターです。であれば、「いずれ溶けてく」のは運命。花や猫、過去、意志といった自身の胸の内に秘めるアイデンティティなども一緒に流れてしまうと解釈すれば、矛盾もありません。
問題は、なぜ「エグミレガシー」を歌っている歌の中に、エンドちゃん自身のことが書かれているのか……。

最後のこの部分。字面だけを見ると、「あなたがいるこの世界」＝「エグミレガシー」のように見えるのですが、そうではないと考察します。
エンドちゃんの歌う「あなたが私のエグミレガシー」の旋律的主題は、まさにこの「エグミレガシー」のメロディ（※）となっており、Aメロなどでも旋律的主題が多用されています。「あなたがいるこの世界こそ」はサビの終わりであり、主題とは間が空くのです。

メロディ的に地続きではない2つの単語が結びつかないと考えると、エンドちゃんが歌う「この世界」とは結局なんなのか。そして「エグミレガシー」がなんなのか、疑問が残ってしまいます。やはり、今後明かされる秘密であると信じたい、そんな歌詞でした。
「エグミレガシー」とはなんなのか。やはり、本作の最大の謎であるこのテーマは、劇中歌だけでは判明しませんでした。しかし、この劇中歌には「エグミレガシー」の真実にたどり着く様々な情報が潜んでいましたね。
