“My Wife Has No Emotions” Interview with Toyonaga Toshiyuki (voice of Kosugi Takuma) and Inagaki Yoshi (voice of Mina) | A bright, fun and “update” work that shows the married life of a “corporate slave salaryman” and a “housework robot”The TV anime “My Wife Has No Emotions,” based on the original work by Jiro Sugiura, began airing on Tuesday, July 2nd.

This work depicts the somewhat unusual married life of Takuma Kosugi, a corporate slave working alone, and Mina, a household robot that he purchased at a recycle shop.

This is a work that has a mysterious charm that makes the viewer’s values update unknowingly while enjoying the characters’ everyday lives that will make you smile.

Animate Times conducted an interview with Toyonaga Toshiyuki, who plays Takuma, and Inagaki Yoshimi, who plays Mina.

The two of them showed such a good relationship, it was like watching Takuma and Mina in the movie. They talked about their impressions of the movie, the appeal of the characters they played, and even the theme of the story!

–Please tell us your impressions after reading the original comics and the script.

Toyonaga Toshiyuki (Toyonaga), who plays Kosugi Takuma: I read it during the audition, and although it’s a story about everyday life, it also depicts extraordinary moments like science fiction. It reminded me of a modern version of “Sazae-san” (laughs).

The story progresses in an omnibus format, but it has a consistent thread. I was wondering how this work would be expressed in one season. When I read the script, Mina, the household robot, said obligatory lines and took action, and Takuma spoke lines with a heart, so I thought Takuma would take on the human side and move the story forward.

However, as the recording began, things started to unfold in a way that made me think, “Maybe it wasn’t like that…” With each recording, my impression of the work changed.

Mina’s voice actor, Inagaki Yoshimi (hereinafter, Inagaki): I also read it for the first time during the audition. At first, I was confused by the unique atmosphere of Mina and the story, but as I read on, the charm of the two characters came through more and more. Even though she is a robot, I could feel a variety of emotions from Mina’s actions, and I felt like I had opened a door to something, thinking, “What is this cuteness…” As for Takuma… is he a bit of a pervert? (laughs)

–It’s a little different, isn’t it?

Inagaki: That’s right! He’s a little strange at times, but the way he deals with Mina and the way he thinks are really charming. The dialogue between the two of them is also great, and it’s got a surreal feel that I’ve never seen before, and it’s interesting precisely because of this setting.

It was a work that made me chuckle, my heart race, my heart flutter, and my emotions constantly changed as I watched.

–Next, please tell us about the appeal of the characters you played, Takuma and Mina.

Toyonaga: Takuma is described in the character introduction as a “normal corporate slave salaryman,” but as Inagaki said, he’s not just a corporate slave salaryman. He’s a very unusual character. Not only his behavior, but the fact that he even has a robot as his wife might make viewers think, “Oh?” (laughs).

However, I think Takuma’s feelings are similar to those of collectors of figurines and other things. In that sense, I think there are some parts where we can sympathize with him.

-What kind of character is Mina, Takuma’s beloved?

Toyonaga: At first, I thought Mina was scary. Her obligation and impersonality could easily lead to her being ruthless. But as those who have read the original work will know, Mina also has a past. She’s not just a robot, there’s something about her.
