The official report from the stage greeting celebrating the completion of the dubbed version of this film has just arrived.
At the event, Otake Shinobu, Tabe Mikako, Magical Lovely’s Murakami, Yokomizo Naho, and Koshimizu Ami appeared on stage. They enlivened the venue with talks about the charms and “emotions” of each character.
Pixar, which has produced many masterpieces, presents a new film that will make adults cry, depicting the “Story of Riley,” a story that everyone has experienced, set in a world of colorful and unique “emotions” that also exist within you. In front of the many fans who rushed to the venue, eagerly awaiting the premiere of this film in Japan, five gorgeous Japanese voice actors appeared: Otake Shinobu, who plays Sadness, dressed in a blue pants-style setup; Tabe Mikako, who plays Shinpai, dressed in an orange dress; Magical Lovely’s Murakami, who plays Embarrassed, wearing a pink jacket; Yokomizo Naho, who plays Riley, who chose a glittering white outfit; and Koshimizu Ami, who plays Joy, who made an impression in a dazzling yellow long-skirt dress.
With the theatrical release just a month away, Tabe, who plays Shinpai, a new character with adult emotions in this film, said, “I’m sure there are a lot of people who loved the previous film, ‘Inside Out,’ and there are also many who are looking forward to ‘Inside Out 2,’ so I’m very sad to be playing the new character Shinpai this time.” She looked a little nervous ahead of the film’s first public appearance, while Otake, who is reprising her role as Kanashimi from the previous film, said, “I’m so happy to think that I’ll get to meet that Kanashimi again. It’s been nine years, but Kanashimi’s tone and presence are still in my body, so I recorded the voice with nostalgia.” She smiled at being reunited with Kanashimi after a long time.
The protagonist of this work, Riley, is a bright and energetic girl who is working hard at her studies and sports in preparation for the turning point in her life when she enters high school. However, one day, the “adolescent alarm” sounds, and in front of the emotions that have been watching over her happiness since childhood in Riley’s head – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Anger – the <adult emotions> Fear, Good, Darling, and Embarrassment appear… Regarding the appeal of the film, Otake said, “As Riley has grown up, new complex emotions emerge, which makes the film deeper and more wonderful. I really think it’s a movie that even adults can enjoy.” Taba said, “There are lots of scenes that anyone can relate to, from emotions they’ve felt and events they’ve experienced, to parents’ generation and children in the midst of adolescence, so I think it will be very enjoyable.” Yokomizo said, “When you feel down, you can remember this movie and it will make you feel better; it’s a wonderful movie that can become a talisman for your life.” Koshimizu revealed the highlights of the film’s unique worldview, saying, “I played the character Joy, but it’s not just Joy; all the emotions have their own variety of feelings, and I thought it was wonderful to see them grow little by little throughout the film.”
Through “Riley’s Story,” this film explores the “storm of emotions” that everyone has experienced at least once in their lives, and the deep theme of whether joy is lost when you become an adult, and has been met with comments from around the world that “adults can relate to it.” Otake said, “In the previous film, when a baby is born, the first emotion he feels is ‘joy,’ which I thought was both moving and wonderful. And in this film, there is a line that says, ‘I wonder if joy will come up less as you grow up,’ and that also moved me. That’s why I really related to the plot development that tells you that you need to increase your joy even more.” Murakami was surprised at how many points she could relate to, saying, “Because it’s a story about an American girl, I honestly wondered how much I would be able to relate to it, but there were many scenes where I felt embarrassed, or got nervous and didn’t understand what was going on, or treated people carelessly, and I thought that even I have experienced those things.” He added, “So maybe I’m an American girl,” drawing laughter from the audience. Yokomizo, who plays the main character Riley, who is about to enter high school as a turning point in her life, said of Riley, who is the same generation as Yokomizo and is a current high school student, “She is at a time when she is experiencing the complex emotions that are unique to adolescence, and when she starts to feel more and more unpleasant feelings like she doesn’t want to feel a certain way, so there were a lot of similarities between Riley and who I am now. I really feel that watching this film gave me the opportunity to reexamine my own emotions,” and talked about the points that are unique to her generation.
本作に登場するのは個性豊かでカラフルで、あなたの中にもいる“感情”のキャラクターたち。＜大人の感情＞たちのリーダー的存在で、常に最悪の将来を想像して、あたふたと必要以上に準備してしまうシンパイを演じた多部は、最近“シンパイ”していることを聞かれると「梅雨明けの暑さ」ときっぱり。「今もジメジメして既に暑いですけど、梅雨が明けたらとか、8月とか、どうなっちゃうのかな？と心配しています」と、演じた役柄同様に少し先の将来を“シンパイ”していると明かした。また、内気で泣き虫だけど実は誰よりもやさしくて仲間思いなカナシミを演じた大竹に最近のカナシミエピソードを聞くと、「カナシミって実はあんまり思い浮かばなくて…悲しいことをすぐ忘れちゃう方なのかもしれません。」と切り出しながらも、「強いて言うなら、時間があっという間にすぎること。インタビューで“２年前に前作を録ったときも、、”といったら“もう9年前ですよ”と返されてしまって」とエピソードを明かすと、会場は笑いの中にも共感が入り混じる、“あるある”に頷く雰囲気となった。
そして、どんな人の中にも広がる“感情たち”の世界を舞台に描く本作にちなんで、登壇者が自分の頭の中を占める“感情たち”の割合をカラフルなキャラクターたちのシールを貼ることで表現したフリップで【私のインサイド・ヘッド】をそれぞれ披露！
大竹は、自身の頭の中を表現したフリップを見せながら、「やっぱりヨロコビに溢れています。ソファで寝転がるのも大好きなのでダリィも。あと羨ましい(イイナー)もあるし、世界中の情勢などをみてカナシミもあります。色んな感情があって人間かな」と、愛嬌たっぷりに語る。多部の頭の中は中心に大きなヨロコビがいて複数のシンパイやダリイがその周りを囲むそうで、「今日ここに立ててうれしいというヨロコビ、そしてみなさんに私が演じたシンパイがどう届くのか、というシンパイ」と説明し、さらに「家に帰ったら明日の用意とかするのが…ダリィもいます」と意外とも言える一面も明かした。対して村上の頭の中を現したフリップはシンパイとハズカシがぎっしり！あまりのつまり具合に会場がこの日一番の笑いの渦に包まれると、その理由について「僕、ちょっと間違えたかもしれないんですけど、“今この瞬間“の感情だと思っていて。登壇直前だったので、シンパイとハズカシがいっぱいなんです」とその理由を明かした。
最後に本作の公開を楽しみにしている人々に向けて、多部は「これからどういう風に皆さんの心に届くのか”シンパイ”していますが、本当にどの世代にもちゃんと届くことが出来る物語になっていますので、ぜひ楽しんで、最後の最後まで見逃さず観ていただけたらなと思います。」、大竹は「みんなで頑張って作りました。本当に素晴らしい映画ですし、皆さんの心がヨロコビでいっぱいになることを願っています。どうぞ楽しんでください」と、日本版声優を代表してあたたかいメッセージを贈った。
そして、本作の日本語吹替版の完成を祝い、会場が一体となって「今年の夏は！インサイド・ヘッド２！」の掛け声と同時に、カラフルなテープが会場を舞った。色鮮やかに彩られた会場は大いに盛り上がり、イベントは大盛況のうちに幕を閉じた。
