“Haikyu!!” is a monumental sports manga by Haruichi Furudate that began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2012 and gained popularity for its passionate youth drama about high school students who are devoted to volleyball. The series will conclude its eight-and-a-half-year serialization in July 2020, and the total number of copies of the 45 volumes of the comics has exceeded 60 million.
“Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump” is the first film in the anime movie FINAL series based on the original work, and depicts one of the most popular episodes in the original work, “Karasuno High School vs. Nekoma High School.” It was released nationwide on February 16th, and by April 30th, its box office revenue had exceeded 10 billion yen. In the 87 days since its release up until May 12th, the box office revenue was 10.4 billion yen, and the number of viewers was over 7.3 million (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha).
