The official report of “Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2024” featuring director Kiyotaka Oshiyama of the theatrical animation “Look Back” has arrived! US premiere screening to be held at North America’s largest anime event “Anime Expo”The original work by Tatsuki Fujimoto, “Look Back”, which was announced on the comic distribution site “Shonen Jump +” in July 2021 and recorded more than 2.5 million views on the first day, will be made into a theatrical animation, and will be released nationwide from June 28th (Friday). It will be released in theaters.

An official report has arrived on the international premiere at the Annecy Presents section of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2024, where director Oshiyama Kiyotaka appeared.

Furthermore, it has been decided that the US premiere will be screened at Anime Expo, the largest anime event in North America.

Tickets for the 3-screen international premiere of “Look Back” at the Annecy Film Festival sold out in 5 minutes. The film was shown on a 170-seat screen at 12:00 pm local time on Monday, June 10th, and was met with loud applause after the screening.

Before the screening, which was filled with excitement and anticipation, Director Oshiyama Kiyotaka took to the stage and shared his thoughts about the film. “I made this film with the hope that it would become a hymn to all creators who make things. As I was only drawing it up recently, it didn’t really feel like it was finished, but seeing everyone’s reactions like this makes me feel very emotional and like I’ve finished making the film,” he said.

He also commented on the meticulous animation technique, saying, “We used a technique that displays the animator’s raw drawings directly on the screen, which is an expression that is rarely used in commercial animation.The emotional part of the artist overflows from the screen, so I would be very happy if you can feel that on this big screen.”

Following the premiere screening in Japan, the film also received rave reviews in Annecy, France, and will finally be released in theaters in Japan on June 28th, followed by a US premiere in July. Look Back is garnering attention from around the world.
