Anime / Manga

“Ryuzoku -The Blazing Dawn-” is a popular anime that was distributed in China from August to November 2022 and has exceeded 570 million views in total, and the production of a second season was announced last year. .

Lu Mingfei, an ordinary high school student, suddenly receives an invitation to enroll at Cassel Academy. Then Nono, a senior at the same school, and Lu Mingzei, who calls Mingfei “brother,” appear, and mysterious things happen. What is Kassel Academy? And what was the purpose of enrolling Mingfei?

The first episode, episode 0, is a special edition that will be broadcast in one hour. To commemorate the broadcast, Animate Times will present a roundtable discussion with Daiki Yamashita, who plays the main character Lu Mingfei, Kaede Hondo, who plays Nono, and Ayumu Murase, who plays Lu Mingzei. He talked about the appeal of this work, his impressions of the characters he plays, and the highlights of the anime.

–First, please tell us your impressions of the work and what you find appealing about it.

Kaede Hondo (hereinafter referred to as Hondo) who plays the role of Nono: Since it was a dubbed version, we recorded it while watching the completed footage, but it was very beautiful.

Daiki Yamashita (hereinafter referred to as Yamashita) who plays Lu Mingfei: I was surprised at how high the quality of the footage was.

Hondo: Something was always moving, the camera work was spinning, and it was so amazing that I was moved when I first saw it.

Ayumu Murase (hereinafter referred to as Murase) who plays Lu Mingzei: The staff and technical skills are so great that I think the budget is one order of magnitude different from the budget of a normal TV series. I also thought that the space was used dynamically and the worldview was amazing.

Yamashita: It feels good to watch because it moves boldly. My first impression was that it looked cool from the OP, and that a lot of attention was paid to the battle scenes and the buildings that appear.

–This work has a lot of characters.

Yamashita: There are so many male and female characters. Also, since they are Chinese names, many of them were unfamiliar, so it was difficult to get used to reading them.

Murase: Things like intonation.

Yamashita: I was impressed by the way people always read their full names. I heard that in China, there are so many people with the same last name that people don’t know if they are being called unless they are called by their full name. In the story, he is called “Lu Mingfei, Lu Mingfei, Lu Mingfei” many times, so if I replace it with myself, it would be called “Yamashita Daiki, Yamashita Daiki, Yamashita Daiki”, which is strange. It was a feeling.

――I felt that there was a clear sense of sharpness, with the parts drawn carefully and the flow flowing at a great speed.

Yamashita: I think the tempo is good.

Murase: There were times when I had to write down the lines within the shaku. The use of pauses is different from Japanese works, so it moves quickly, which is difficult. Especially since Ming Fei has a lot of lines.

Yamashita: Mingfei’s emotional changes are amazing (lol). It suddenly becomes a gag, regardless of the scene before or after it.

Murase: His expressions and expressions are rich.

Yamashita: It’s interesting because we’re taking the plunge in that area. However, there are a lot of lines compared to the length, so it’s a difficult part.

Hondo: Mingfei is always in the movie, and has a huge amount of dialogue. The gag parts also have a way of showing gags that is unique to China, and although I didn’t play many of them in Nono, there were many male actors and it was interesting.

Yamashita: There is a difference from the original sound, so it is both interesting and difficult. But Minsey doesn’t have much of a difference with Chinese voice actors. The character is shrouded in mystery, and the Chinese voice actor speaks in a matter-of-fact manner, so I’d like to see Minzei’s various expressions someday.
