The latest TV anime series, “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V: The Fertility Goddess Arc,” began airing on October 4, 2024.
To coincide with this broadcast, Animate Times conducted an email interview with the cast members!
In the second episode, we asked Shimazaki Nobunaga, who plays Hedin Selland, about what he pays attention to when playing Hedin, stories from the recording session, and the charms of Hedin’s comrades in the Freya Familia, and the chief goddess Freyja.
Also, the episode at the beginning involving the exchange with Bell is a must-see, so we would appreciate it if you would read it before or after watching the show.
–You’ve finally been cast as Hedin in the anime “DanMachi.” I’d like to ask you about the appeal of the work you felt after reading the original work, script, and scenario, as well as your impressions of the fifth season.
Nobunaga Shimazaki (Hedin Selland): If you just look at the title, “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls?”, it has a romantic feel to it. Love and admiration are certainly gimmicks in the story, but contrary to that atmosphere, I thought it was a passionate work.
I myself have been exposed to a lot of content such as anime, games, manga, and novels, but “DanMachi” has a classic, old-fashioned plot, and it has the heat, grittiness, and extravagance that comes with it.
In otaku terms, it could be called “Chuunibiki” (middle school power). It’s a work that’s filled with a mysterious charm, so I love it as a viewer.
It’s true that he grows quickly, but I think what makes the series unique is that Bell is not easily praised or have things go his way easily.
今回の 『豊穣の女神篇』は、ベルくんたちが色々な困難を乗り越え積み上げてきたものへの重さを感じると思います。ベルくんもヘスティア・ファミリアの仲間たちも彼らの周囲の人たちも、肉体的にも精神的にも大きな成長を遂げました。
けれど、そんなベルくんたちに「どうなっちゃうんだろう!?」みたいな大変な出来事が降りかかります。より大きな試練や、とてつもなく高い壁が立ちはだかるような熱い展開が待っています。
ベルくんが受ける今までにないくらいのしんどさとか、彼が擦り減っていく様は本当に印象に残ると思います。
何か今までにないくらいのしんどさ、ベル君がすり減ってく感じがまた面白い。苦しんでる姿が面白いってわけではないんですけれど、より大きな試練や、とてつもない高い壁が立ちはだかるっていうのは熱いですよね。
──アプリゲーム『ダンまち〜メモリア・フレーゼ〜』には先んじて登場していましたが、アニメではおそらく今回が初登場かと思います。アニメ『ダンまち』の現場ではスタッフさんや他のキャストさんたちとどんなお話をされましたか？
島﨑：『ダンまち』はちょっと同窓会みたいなところがあるので、とんでもなくすんなり馴染むことができました（笑）。
──同窓会ですか。
島﨑：ベルくん役の松岡禎丞が同期ですし、他のキャストさんも新キャラクターでなければ10年以上同じキャラクターとして出演している方ばかりですから。
キャリアを重ねていくと自分が一番先輩みたいな現場が増えてくるので、同じくらいの年齢やキャリアのキャストが揃うことはただでさえ少なくなってきます。
けれど『ダンまち』の現場は僕と同年代くらいの方がたくさんいらっしゃったので、すんなり溶け込むことができました。前からずっと出演していたかのような馴染み具合だったと自分でも思います。
──ベル役の松岡さんとは同期とのことですが、今回の出演にあたっては何かお話されたりしましたか？
島﨑：彼とは普段からよく話すので出演にあたって特別にということはあまりなく、お互い「楽しみだね」とかそんな感じのことを言ってた気がします。後はヘディンがベルの師匠になったりするので「感慨深いね」とか、一緒に頑張ってこの作品を盛り上げようとかそういう話をしました。
ヘディンは第5期の冒頭から活躍するので視聴者のみなさんもかなり印象に残るんじゃないかと思っているのですが、当然新キャラクターとしての登場なのでまだまだ見どころがあります。それについて話したことも思い出しました。
後、ヘグニ・ラグナール役の小林裕介も同期みたいなものなので、彼ともヘグニに関して「活躍が楽しみだ」みたいな話をしました。ヘグニも新キャラクターで魅力的なので、ぜひ期待していてください。
