The real version includes 327 retakes and redubs of the sound to match, allowing you to enjoy a different perspective from the previous versions of “The Birth of Kitaro: The GeGeGe Mystery.”
In this article, we will be bringing you a report on the 4DX preview screening for people involved in “The Birth of Kitaro: The GeGeGe Mystery – Real Version” held at a location in Tokyo!
*There are no core spoilers for the actual scenes.
*The performance may differ slightly depending on the theater.
In 4DX theaters, four seats (the number of seats varies depending on the theater) are lined up in a group. When choosing your seats, be careful that the seats shake more at the ends, which is unique to 4DX, and the shaking is reduced toward the center. Just for reference…!
As the screening began, water began to rain down on our faces, replicating the rain in the film.
There were also other elements scattered throughout the theater that helped immerse you in the world of the film, such as scents that evoked nature, smoke that evoked mist, and flashing effects that matched the wind and thunder, making it hard to feel the boundary between the screening screen and your seat.
This time, we will introduce the direction of two particularly impressive scenes!
The first is the bathing scene of Kitaro’s father. In this scene, smoke is used on both sides of the screen, and the smoke gradually rises up.
In the film, there is a scene where the steam rising from the open-air bath is depicted thickly, so the smoke effects linked to the projection screen make it seem as if the steam is floating up towards you from the screen. Also, pay attention to the figure of Kitaro’s father peeking through the smoke! It has a realism that makes you feel like “he’s really in the bath!”
The next thing that left an impression on me was the action scenes. Before the action scenes started, I could hear Genji Nagata’s voice coming from behind me. It felt like Nagata was talking to Mizuki and the others in front of me (the movie screen) from behind my seat, and I felt like I was watching the conversation between them.
Furthermore, in the dynamic action scene of Kitaro’s father that starts from there, the seats shake violently along with the scene, and your back is pounded, making you feel like you’re on an attraction! Combined with the fact that lines were added to the action scenes in the Masumi version, you will feel the speed and tension of the movements even more.
In addition to the rain, the film also uses mist to depict scenes that resemble liquids or water, such as blood, and mist often splashes onto your face from above or in front. There were moments when you felt as if you were being splashed with blood.
Of course, there are many other scenes that fans must see besides the ones introduced this time. Although the audio has not been re-recorded, the atmosphere of the work has changed due to the addition of new effects, so it felt like it had been re-recorded. This screening, which adds 4DX effects to the unique depictions of “The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe – The Real Version,” is not to be missed!
Be sure to experience the characters, including Mizuki and Kitaro’s father, in 4DX.
