Aniplex Online Fest 2024 delivered exciting news for fans of the popular light novel I Ended Up Marrying the Girl I Hate the Most in My Class, as it was officially announced that the series will be adapted into a TV anime! The event, which took place on September 16, 2024, featured special appearances from the main cast members, Hinaki Yano (Akane Sakuramori) and Shogo Sakata (Saito Hojo), who took part in a celebratory cake-cutting event in honor of the upcoming anime.

The festivities began with Yano and Sakata, who play the lead characters Akane and Saito, taking part in a cake-cutting challenge. The cake was specially designed to reflect the wedding theme of the series, with intricate meringue dolls adorning it. Using different knives, the two actors skillfully cut the cake, much to the delight of the audience.
As the MC revealed, the meringue dolls were not just decorations but held hidden messages. The pair took turns pulling the dolls of their characters, uncovering clues like “Today is AOF, so…” and “I’ve prepared a surprise for you!!” Following the instructions, they pulled the dolls of Ishikura Himari and Hojo Itoa, revealing that the characters will be voiced by Suzushiro Sayumi and Hieda Nene, respectively!
Surprise Cast Reveals and Anime Preview Premiere
After this exciting reveal, Suzushiro Sayumi and Hieda Nene joined the stage, completing the main cast lineup. Together, the four actors watched the debut of the anime’s first preview video. Fans were treated to the first glimpse of the series, with Yano and Sakata sharing their thoughts on the production.
In the preview, additional voice actors were also announced. Otsuka Houchuu will voice Saito’s grandfather, Hojo Tenryu, and Hirano Aya will voice Akane’s grandmother, Sakuramori Chiyo, adding further excitement to the show’s cast.

Yano also performed the theme song, Suki Kirai mo Oikoshite, which plays a key role in the series.
