“SAMURAI7” Anniversary BD-BOX Release Commemorative Broadcast Announced! Newly drawn illustrations and package design also revealed!!The anime “SAMURAI7” was produced in 2004 as a 50th anniversary project for the release of the original “Seven Samurai” by the master director Akira Kurosawa. To commemorate the release of the anniversary BD-BOX of this work, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary as a TV anime in 2024, a special broadcast has been scheduled on TOKYO MX on September 26th!

The illustrations and packaging design for the BD-BOX have also been revealed! The illustrations used on the outer case are original drawings by character designer Takuhito Kusanagi! Be sure to check them out!

Produced by the animation studio GONZO in a high-spec format of full digital HD quality and 5.1ch surround sound, which was unprecedented at the time, this work became a pioneering work of today’s mainstream high-definition digital animation.

The animation has been reconstructed based on the original’s fascinating worldview and characters, while adding sci-fi elements such as a setting that benefits from mechanized civilization. The battle between Kanbee and seven other samurai, who are hired by farmers for “rice,” and the giant mechanical samurai “Nobushi Seri” is a highlight unique to the anime.

This Blu-ray includes all 26 episodes of the TV series in the same HD quality and 5.1ch audio as the original master, as well as DVD bonus footage such as “News from Komachi,” “Okara Observations,” and “Uncredited OP/ED” in HD quality!
