関東最大の指定暴力団 砥草会直系深山一家の総長であり霧島の大伯父。若い頃は霧島とよく似ていたらしく、容姿端麗で凛とした雰囲気をまとっており、今も尚健在である。染井蓮二は旧知の仲で、交友関係が広くない萼の数少ない友人。蓮二曰く、萼は喧嘩も博打も異常に強いらしく、蓮二も今まで一度しか勝てたことがない。

冷酷で寡黙。ヤクザの事務所を一週間の内に一人で片付ける程の実力を持つ危険人物。仕事を受ける動機や仕事を進める手段、所属している組、全てにおいて謎に包まれている。吉乃を求めて霧島の前に現れるが、理由は不明。霧島とは過去に面識がある様子だが…？普段からマスクをしており表情が読めず、不気味な雰囲気を漂わせている。
