“Nina of the Starry Kingdom” won the 46th Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category and is a popular work that has sold a total of 2.3 million copies.
The lyrics for the opening theme “nina” were written by Maaya Sakamoto herself. The song was composed and arranged by Yusuke Shirato, who has worked on numerous hits including Keyakizaka46’s “Sekai ni wa Ai Shikanai” (All There Is in the World), THE IDOLM@STER series, and JUNNA’s “Here.” This is the first time he has teamed up with Sakamoto. The positive, fast-paced, upper-tempo opening theme is already a surefire hit.
The coupling song is “Secret of the World,” with lyrics by Tomomi Uchimura (la la larks) and composed and arranged by Swedish sound creator Rasmus Faber, who is teaming up with her for the first time in nine years since “Waiting for the Rain.”
The first limited edition of the CD will come with a Blu-ray containing three live performances of Maaya Sakamoto’s performance at the Quruli-sponsored “Kyoto Music Expo 2023 in Umekoji Park.” “Sumire,” which she performed with Shigeru Kishida (Quruli), is a must-see.
