This is an original radio drama that is a collaboration between Nippon Cultural Broadcasting’s “Recommen!” and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’ “Hometown Working Holiday” initiative.
This radio drama is a completely original work planned around the theme of “Hometown Working Holiday.” One summer vacation, Akari, a second-year student at a university in Tokyo, is short on money and worried about how to spend her summer vacation, when she sees on social media that a friend of hers is living in the countryside using a program called “Hometown Working Holiday.” The drama begins.
The drama will unfold to show what changes occur to Akari as she actually takes part in the Hometown Working Holiday program.
The main character, Akari, will be played by Takahashi Rie, who is known for her work as the voice actress of Ai in the TV anime “Oshi no Ko”, as well as other main characters in various anime and game productions.
After the radio drama is broadcast, it will be available on Nippon Cultural Broadcasting’s official YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@JOQR ) until March next year . It will also be posted on the Furusato Working Holiday official website ( https://furusato-work.jp/ ) at a later date.

■Synopsis: One day during summer vacation, Akari, a second-year student at a university in Tokyo, is short on money and is worried about how to spend her summer vacation. On social media, she sees a friend living in the countryside using a program called “Furusato Working Holiday.” Her friend is using the program to stay in the countryside while working.
Akari is shocked by the system’s many benefits – because it’s a program run primarily by cities and towns, she can work with peace of mind, use the money she earns to sightsee on her days off, interact with local people and deepen friendships with them, experience rural life, and be able to use her experience in job hunting as well as from the perspective of regional revitalization – and she begins to research the “Furusato Working Holiday” program.
