Pixar’s works have delivered unique stories that are moving and imaginative, evoking a variety of emotions. The latest film, Inside Out 2, is set in a world of emotions that exist within everyone. It was released in the US and 90 other countries and regions before its release in Japan, and became a huge hit, recording the highest opening in the world in the first three days of its release. It has been met with great excitement, with people saying that it will make even adults cry.
To commemorate the release, Friday Roadshow will be broadcasting Pixar’s popular film “Coco,” which features a cheerful “Land of the Dead,” as well as “Toy Story” and its sequel, “Toy Story 2,” which changed the history of animation through the use of CG.
“Coco” will be broadcast on July 19th. Miguel, a guitar prodigy, dreams of becoming a musician, but his family has been banned from music for generations. He tries to enter a music contest in the city without telling his family, but his grandmother finds out and destroys his guitar. Then, as soon as Miguel plays the guitar that was displayed in the mausoleum as a replacement, he gets lost in the bright and colorful “Land of the Dead”, where he meets Hector, a cheerful, music-loving skeleton.
Miguel and Hector embark on a great adventure in the Land of the Dead, and the two eventually discover the secret of Miguel’s family. The key to unlocking the secret is hidden in the famous song “Remember Me” left behind by a legendary singer. The most notable thing about this film is the music. It won not only the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature but also the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It is a work that beautifully depicts the bond between music and family.
“Toy Story” will be broadcast on July 26th. Toys can move around freely when humans are not watching. It is a “toy rule” that humans must not know. Woody, a cowboy doll, was Andy’s favorite, but when the latest space ranger Buzz Lightyear appeared on Andy’s birthday, he was about to lose his leading role.
Woody and Buzz, who are rivals, are caught by a boy named Sid, whose hobby is playing extreme pranks on toys, and find themselves in big trouble. As they work together to escape, a bond of friendship soon develops between them. This is the world’s first full-length CG animated film, created by the talented creators of Disney and Pixar. It won a special award at the Academy Awards in 1996, and is a timeless masterpiece that changed the history of animation thereafter.
“Toy Story 2” will be broadcast on August 2nd. One day, Mama decides to sell some unwanted items at a garage sale, and one of the toys is chosen as an item. Woody bravely tries to save his friends, but this time Woody is kidnapped by a toy maniac. Buzz and his friends rush out into the outside world with a desperate determination to find Woody.
Meanwhile, Woody, who was about to be sent to a toy museum in Japan with cowgirl doll Jessie and horse Bullseye as a “super premium doll,” begins to waver in his desire to return to his friends after hearing Jessie’s stories of memories with the children. Buzz and the others rush to Woody’s side after overcoming various dangers. What will Woody decide to do?
To celebrate the release of Inside Out 2, Nippon Television’s movie program Friday Road Show will air Coco on July 19th, Toy Story on July 26th, and Toy Story 2 on August 2nd. In conjunction with these
broadcasts, the program will also be inviting people to submit their “Favorite Pixar Scenes.” The selected scenes will be announced during the broadcast on August 2nd. Why not cast your vote for the scene you think is the best from Pixar’s past works?
