Director Ikebata said with a relieved expression, “When I was making it, I had doubts about whether it was correct, but when I saw everyone’s impressions and everyone’s faces, I felt that it turned out to be a good work and I’m glad.” floated.

エイベックス・グループと81プロデュースのダブルマネジメントによる、声優とアイドルの活動を両立するハイブリッドユニット。メンバーは山北早紀、芹澤優、茜屋日海夏、若井友希、久保田未夢の5人。
2012年7月、「アニソン・ヴォーカルオーディション」合格者6人で結成。同年11月7日、アニメ「バトルスピリッツ ソードアイズ」EDテーマ「Color」でCDデビュー。
2014年7月~放送TVアニメ「プリパラ」に全員が主要キャストに、またOPテーマを歴代担当(全8曲)。2015年4月、1stアルバム「We are i☆Ris!!!」をリリース、初の5大都市ツアーを開催。2016年3月、「第十回声優アワード」にて歌唱賞を受賞。同年11月、4周年記念ライブを日本武道館公演にて実施。

さらに 11月24日には、i☆Risホールライブ史上最大キャパとなるパシフィコ横浜国立大ホールにてワンマンライブが開催され完売御礼となった。
2022年8月3日にリリースした22thシングル「Queens Bluff」はNetflixシリーズ「賭ケグルイ双」エンディングテーマに起用され、ミュージックビデオ再生回数250万回を突破、LINE MUSIC「アニメジャンル」1位獲得。2022年11月にはデビュー10周年を迎え、東京国際フォーラムホールAにて10周年ライブを成功させた。
さらに同日、2024年i☆Ris自身をアニメ化する劇場版アニメ「i☆Ris the Movie –Full Energy!! -」プロジェクトも発表。2023年に開催された全国ツアー『i☆Ris 8 th Live Tour 2023~わっしょい!!!!!~』では、劇場版アニメ公開に向けて“ファンとi☆Risが一緒に盛り上げていこう“という想いを込めたキャッチコピー”i☆Ris 10th→NEXT キミと一緒に「Full Energy!!」“を発表した。
2023年に入ってからは「全力コラボ」を称し、著名クリエイターとコラボを次々と実施し、声優・女性アイドル・アニソンファンからも熱い注目を集めている。2024年4月からは全国8か所を巡る『i☆Ris 9th Live Tour 2024 愛たくて…Full Ener9y!!』を実施。
