“Chibi Maruko-chan” is set in Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture (currently Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture), and follows the daily lives of Maruko (Sakura Momoko), a third-year elementary school student who is the second daughter of the Sakura family who lives there, and her family and friends. This is a heart-warming work that depicts a fun, interesting, and sometimes sad story.
The original manga began serialization in Ribon in 1986, and 2021 marks the 35th anniversary of the original work. A total of 18 volumes of the original comic are currently on sale, and the total number of copies published, including the digital version, has exceeded 32.5 million copies. Overseas versions are also published in Asian countries. The TV anime began airing in 1990, and is broadcast every Sunday at 6pm on the Fuji TV network. It has been broadcast overseas, including in Greater China, and has continued to be loved for a long time, captivating people of all ages and genders around the world.
In March 2024, TARAKO, who had played the role of Maruko for 34 years since the first broadcast, passed away, and it was said that “we are currently considering the replacement voice actor and the timing of the start of broadcasting.” Kikuchi, who will now take on the role of Maruko, was apparently chosen after multiple auditions.

Momoko Sakura Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Original Work Festival” will be held from the April 21st broadcast in which Kikuchi’s character Maruko appears to the June 9th broadcast. Ta.
