On Wednesday, October 9th, the film’s premiere screening and cast talk event was held at Ikebukuro Humax Cinemas.
The cast talk was attended by three people: Shuuichirou Umeda, who plays the main character, Yohei Azakami, who plays Toshizo Hijikata, and Tomokazu Sugita, who plays Isami Kondo. The exchange conveyed the appeal of “Blue Miblo” and the teamwork of the cast.
Umeda, Azagami, and Sugita appeared on stage in front of fans after the advance screening of the first episode.
At the start of the talk event, each member spoke about their character, discussing the appeal of Hijikata, who is simple-minded and straightforward, and whose very presence saves people’s hearts, as well as Kondo, who embraces his comrades with a big heart.
Umeda said, “Hijikata and Kondo in Mibro remind me of Azagami and Sugita,” and praised Azagami’s charm, which is no less than Hijikata’s, saying, “Only Azagami can pull off this hairstyle so perfectly!”
Furthermore, he said that he feels that Sugita has the same great presence as Kondo, saying, “He speaks with a broad mind.”
Azagami shared an episode where Sugita suddenly spoke lines that were not in the script during the post-recording, and Umeda praised the high degree of synchronization, saying, “Kondo-san really came down to the script.” Sugita also revealed that he is fascinated by Kondo, saying, “That’s how charming Kondo is.”
In the middle of the event, it was announced as a surprise that Ogata Megumi will be appearing as an additional cast member in the role of Kikuchiyo (Tokugawa Iemochi)!
Right up until the moment they started talking, the three were excited about the characters that would appear in the film. Sugita said with a grin, “I almost accidentally mentioned (Ogata’s appearance)!”, eliciting excitement from the audience. Then, when Umeda announced Ogata’s name, the audience erupted in cheers, and the audience’s expectations for the film rose sharply!
Furthermore, in reference to the Shinsengumi’s strict ironclad code, “Kyokuchu Hoto,” they will hold a special corner titled “Blue Rules! Our Own Rules,” in which each of the three will announce the loose rules they impose on themselves.
Azakami revealed a strict rule he and three other close friends who were in the same agency at the same time: “If we feel like one another is getting too cocky because of our success, we ask each other, ‘You’ve been interesting lately,’ and if we can’t notice it, we won’t help you.”
Umeda also said he has a similar rule with his good friend Urawa Nozomi, revealing a more powerful one: “If I think they’re getting too cocky, I’ll break their nose.”
On the other hand, Sugita, who does not have any classmates, passionately shared his thoughts on classmates, saying, “Persons of the same sex who are in the same year are like a mirror that reflects you. When you’re alone, you don’t know where you stand, you get anxious, and you might try to overreach yourself and end up falling down. Classmates are good friends.”
As the event drew to a close, the three shared their passionate thoughts about the film!
杉田が「覚悟を持ってこの世界を、作品を、時間を、命を生きています。皆もそうだとありがたい」と意気込みを語ると、阿座上は「幕末の混乱期、1人1人の考えや想いや魂を、におを通して見て作品を楽しんで頂けたら、伝わるものがあるのでは」と言葉を残す。
そして、梅田は「数々ある新選組作品の中でも、におという居たかもしれない男の子が主人公というところが最大の特徴。におを通して新選組のみなさんやその時代に触れて頂くことで、臨場感を持ってミブロの世界に浸れると思います！」と、『青のミブロ』の魅力を伝えた。
そしてイベントの最後には、梅田修一朗＆杉田智和へのダブルバースデーサプライズも行われた。奇しくも、本イベントの２日後の10月11日にそろって誕生日を迎える2人。そんな梅田と杉田へはスタッフから新選組にちなんだお酒が贈られた。
梅田が青のミブロのPR隊長として活躍するキャラクター『ミブロウくん』のぬいぐるみを手に「ミブロウくんと後で飲みたいと思います」と笑みをこぼすと、杉田から「ミブロウくんって飲酒できるの？」とツッコミが。
阿座上からも「まだ5歳とかですよ！人間の年にしたら二十歳ぐらいかも」とツッコまれ、「本人に確認してみます」とタジタジの様子の梅田に会場は温かな笑いに包まれた。
終始、３人の仲の良さが伺え、会場に集まったファンたちも大満足の『青のミブロ』プレミア上映会＆キャストトークイベントは大盛況の内に幕を閉じた！
