On Saturday, September 21st, an advance screening with stage greetings from the cast was held at T-Joy PRINCE Shinagawa. Daisuke Hirakawa (role of Keisuke Niijima), Aoi Yuki (role of Takae Niijima/Marika Shiraishi), Maiko Nomura (role of Mai Niijima), Sachiko Kojima (role of Chika Shiraishi), Mutsumi Iwanaka (role of Renji Aikawa), and director Noriyuki Abe appeared on stage.
Additionally, information on the ending theme song, a synopsis of episode 1, preview scene cuts, and distribution information have also been released.

The stage greeting took place before the screening of the film. When the cast and director appeared in front of the full house, the hall erupted in loud applause.
This film is a moving story that depicts the bonds between family members, and when asked about the atmosphere during the dubbing, Hirakawa replied, “It’s basically a dialogue-based drama, or rather a human drama at its core, so I thought it would be great if I could develop good relationships with everyone. There were a few people I was working with for the first time this time, but strangely enough, everyone got along well and we made a great team. Before the dubbing, we were all excited with everyday conversation, but once the real thing started, it all switched gears quickly. That feeling felt really good.”
Regarding Nomura, who plays her daughter in the film, she said, “Of course, Nomura-san is an active actress, but I started to think of her as just a normal daughter (laughs).” She also added with a laugh that Yuuki, who plays her mother, “Of course, I don’t have a child that big, but I was cheering her on, saying ‘Do your best’ and ‘I’m glad for you.'”
Nomura also shared her feelings, saying, “I was very nervous too, so you welcomed me so warmly. I thought of you two as my parents too. Thank you.” Hirakawa and Yuuki were also delighted, saying, “We’re so happy.”
In the midst of all this, Kojima asked, “I just remembered, weren’t we sitting in this order (for the stage greeting) in the recording studio?” The cast members nodded, saying, “Indeed.” Hirakawa also commented, “Maybe that’s why I was able to relax today,” and the cast members were in a relaxed mood throughout the day as they talked.
The story is set in a world where the wife, Takae, returns to her family in the body of an elementary school student named Marika. The role requires Takae to play two different personalities: the adult Takae and the Takae who has taken over Marika. Director Abe also had difficulty figuring out how to portray this.
“They’re the same human beings, but they’re each different. I struggled quite a bit about whether I could play that role by myself. But mentally they’re the same, so I thought that if I were to use different cast members to play the adults and children, they wouldn’t be able to convey that atmosphere unless they were together the whole time. But in the end, when I asked Yuki to play the role, she repelled all of that,” he recalled with a confident look.
Kojima also testified, “Even when Aoi was narrating the script, she would ask, ‘Which one is this?'” Director Abe replied, “There were times when it was tricky. At first, we were thinking of the narration in terms of a child, but Yuki would ask, ‘Is this an adult?’ There were times when that worked better.” Yuki also seemed relieved, saying, “Even though she has the body of a small child, I think she probably thinks of herself as my wife, so I thought that would be more natural…I’m glad.”
Since this was a rare opportunity to screen the first and second episodes for the first time in the world, we asked the speakers what they thought were the highlights. We were supposed to start with Iwanaka, but he declared, “I’d like to apologize in advance, but I won’t be appearing in episodes 1 and 2,” which caused the audience to erupt in laughter.
Even so, he said, “Though I’m not in it, I’ll tell you about some of the highlights. I absolutely love the opening animation. There’s a part at the end of the opening where Keisuke runs, and I love how the colors start to come into play. I hope you’ll actually watch that part,” and the audience erupted in excitement.
Kojima continued, “We watched all the episodes ahead of time, and I think the story begins with what Iwanaka-kun said, and ends with the ending, so I hope you’ll take that into account when receiving the message.”
Nomura also commented on the highlights of the story, saying, “The story begins with Mai and Keisuke’s gloomy days, but then time that had been stagnant for the family begins to move again. I hope people will pay attention to the moment when the family comes together.”
Yuki continued, “Of course I want you to watch the family scenes, but at the same time, I want you to watch the scenes where Takae goes to school. Takae, who is actually an old lady, goes to school. That part is interesting, so I want you to watch it.”
最後に平川が「10年前に亡くなった妻が小学生になって帰ってくるというのは、ファンタジー要素が満載だと思いますが、それ以外はどこにでもいそうな人たちが繰り広げる人間ドラマとなっています。だからひとりひとりが紡ぐセリフの重み、厚み、温度とか、そういったものを丁寧にフィルムにのせて、皆さんにお届けできているんじゃないかなと思うので、皆さん耳をそばだてて、そしてつぶさにすべてを観ていただけたらうれしいです。ですから、あえてすべてが見所だと言わせていただきたいと思います！」と力強く呼びかけた。
そしてそんなキャスト陣を見守っていた阿部監督は「皆さんがおっしゃった通りだと思います。原作を読んだ方はどんな物語か分かると思いますが、最終的にはおじさんの純愛と、家族の成長みたいな部分がド直球で投げられる作品なので。そのどんどん変わっていく部分を見落とさないように観てください。」と付け加えた。
お弁当が重要な役割を果たしている本作にちなみ、「お弁当の思い出」について質問されたキャスト陣。
まずは悠木が「お母さんがつくってくれたキャラ弁が思い出深いです」と振り返ると、続く小島が「ちょうどこの収録が春休み時期だったんです。だから子どもたちが家にいたので、わたしはお弁当をつくってから収録に行ったんですが、子どもたちが『またこれか』とか、文句を言うんですよ。だから子どもたちに、ぜひこの作品を観て頂き、反省していただきたい！」とクレームをつけて、会場は大喝采。
そんなお弁当つくりの大変さをせつせつと語る小島のあとで、恐縮した様子で平川が「今となってはお母さんごめんなさいなんですが、揚げ物が入っている時に、いちいちソースやしょうゆをかけるのが面倒くさい、手も汚れるしと言ったら、それからはソースやしょうゆも要らない、下味がついたおかずを入れてくれるようになった。今思うと泣けてきます」と懺悔のコメントを寄せると、小島が「いますぐお母さんに謝りなさい！」とツッコんで会場は大笑い。
続く野村が「わたしは平川さんと逆で、何もかけないでと言いました。ふりかけもかけないでほしい」とたたみかけると、「麻衣ちゃんも謝りなさい！」。
さらに岩中が「ふりかけは先にかけてしっとりしているものよりも、（個包装）でパリッとしている方が好きです」と続けると、「個包装のふりかけは高いんだから。ぜいたく言うな！」。そんなキャスト陣の和気あいあいとしたやり取りに会場は大盛り上がりとなった。
そんな大盛り上がりの舞台あいさつもいよいよ終盤。
最後に悠木が「今日のこの時間だけでも、われわれが非常にワイワイと仲良く、この作品を楽しんでつくったというのが伝わったのではないかと思います。人間の愛情を描いた作品なので、一緒につくるみんなと一緒に愛情を込めて、きずなを大切にしてつくりました。きっと楽しんで頂けるのではないかと思いますし、時間が経ったあとでも思い出して頂けるようなすてきな作品になっていると思うので、楽しんでください」とメッセージを送ると、
平川が「この作品にはいろんなキャラクターが出てきますが、どのキャラクターも、生まれてきてからどういう環境で育ってきたのかといった、キャラクターのバックボーンにまで想像が働くというか。それは大人たちだけでなく、（貴恵が通う）小学生の同級生もそうですが、ひとりひとり余すことなく描かれている、とても厚みのある作品になりました。そうした作品に参加させて頂けたことをうれしく思いますし、僕らもそれをお届けできるよう丁寧に紡がせていただいたので、ぜひ皆さんには、それぞれのキャラクターのバックボーンを考えながらご覧頂きたいです。見終わった後に残るもの、感じるものを反すうしてぜひ何度もご覧頂けたら嬉しいと思います。この作品が思い出に残ることを祈っております」と会場に呼びかけた。
──原作・台本を読んだ時の感想
所謂、転生モノなのかなと思ってこの作品を読み始めました。前提としてファンタジーなのですが、その登場人物の心情や背景がリアルで、共感できるポイントやハッとするセリフがあったり、どんどん引き込まれていきました。
読み終わった後、じんわり心が温かくなって、家族や大切な人達のことを考えていました。
──エンディングに込めた想い・お気持ち
大切な人が笑っていてくれるなら、たとえ遠く離れていても、たとえもう会えないとしても、それだけで幸せかもしれない。誰かの幸せが自分の幸せになること、そんな人と出会えるのは人生において何よりの宝物なのだと、この作品を読んで改めて感じることが出来ました。
大切な人がHidamariという優しさの中で笑っていて欲しい。そんな思いを込めました。
──今回は物語の大切な要素として“お弁当”がございます。好きなお弁当と理由をお聞かせ下さい
好きなお弁当は「のり弁」ですね。ご飯の上におかかと海苔が乗ってるやつ。そして何よりちくわの天ぷらが大好きなので入ってるとテンションが上がります。
最近は高級のり弁なるものもあって、都内ライブ時に差し入れで頂いたことがありました。都内ライブの時は疲れ果てて自宅に帰るので、1人高級のり弁食べて美味しすぎて泣きそうになりました(笑)。
──ファンに向けて一言
この作品は大人にこそ刺さる作品だと思います。
そして一度ではなく、是非2周は見て欲しいと思っています。
感じ方が全然違います！
そして心を込めて書きましたエンディング曲の「Hidamari」も、この作品と共に末永く愛して頂けたら嬉しいです。
新島圭介は恋をした。相手は取引先の会社員、古賀貴恵。貴恵をデートに誘い、告白し、結婚して、娘の麻衣が生まれた。
