“Kimura Ryohei’s Kimuraism” is a video project in which voice actor Kimura Ryohei challenges himself to Instagram-worthy “adult hobbies” with guests.
In the fourth installment, released on November 24, 2023, Yoshimasa Hosoya was welcomed as a guest, and in addition to learning photography techniques, he also experienced billiards and whiskey.
At the launch event for “Kimura Ryohei’s Kimuraism IV,” in addition to Kimura Ryohei and guest Hosoya Yoshimasa, Uemura Yuto, who is the narrator for the program, also appeared on stage.
While watching the digest footage, participants shared memories of the recording and talked about behind-the-scenes stories, and there was also a talk corner on various themes and an early birthday celebration for Kimura-san, making for a packed program.

MC Uemura called out Kimura and Hosoya, who then gathered on the stage. After the title call, the audio commentary segment began, where they talked about all sorts of things while watching a digest video.
In “Kimuraism,” we challenge ourselves to take photos that will look good on Instagram. Hosoya-san started using Instagram for the recording of “Kimuraism,” but he says he hasn’t been taking many photos recently.
When asked by Kimura why, he replied that at first he took pictures of landscapes and other things as they pleased, but once he started to think that people would be happier if he took pictures of other people, he found it difficult to take pictures.
However, Kimura persuaded Hosoya by telling him the reason why he started his own Instagram account.
Kimura says that he wasn’t interested in taking photos of himself at first, but when he saw his favorite artists posting tour photos and photos they had taken while out and about on Instagram, he found it really interesting to be able to see angles of the artists that they don’t normally show.
By extension, the photos that the voice actors take together can be seen on the official SNS accounts of the work, but Hosoya said that if he happens to think a photo is nice, it won’t be seen anywhere else, so he was asked to definitely take one, and Hosoya seemed to agree.
After some more camera and photography talk, the footage shifts to a billiards scene.
Uemura-san has been playing billiards since his school days, and one amazing story is that after a live performance, he had too much adrenaline and played until 5 a.m. On the other hand, Hosoya-san had never played billiards before, and would usually go to karaoke after school.
In relation to the show, when asked about his hobbies and what he has been interested in recently, Hosoya replied that he likes researching urban legends, etc. He also likes practical books such as how-to books and psychology books, and after reading a psychology book, he immediately tries out what he learns in the dressing room.
On the other hand, Kimura and Kamimura apparently read a lot of narrative works such as novels, and Hosoya praised them, saying, “We read them for work, so we don’t read them in our private lives. It’s amazing that you two can read so much.”
By the way, when asked if he uses psychology in his acting, he said that when dubbing an FBI drama, he “can understand what they’re thinking when they do it,” which surprised Kimura and the others.
Hosoya also mentioned that one thing that foreign dramas have in common is that “good-looking foreign characters have low voices.” This is because it was thought that “lower voices make you more popular and more attractive.” However, a psychology book said that “lower male voices are meant to intimidate other men.” After hearing this, Kimura and Kamimura vowed to pay attention to the voices of good-looking men the next time they watch a foreign drama.
