New stills have been released, showing the characters played by Shiraishi Haruka, Iwami Manaka, Minagawa Sarutoki, and Tsuda Kenjiro.
Additionally, a “Panel Exhibition to Commemorate the Release of the Film ‘Touch'” will be held in Takadanobaba, the setting of the film.
The stills released this time include a number of scenes that reveal the personalities of the four characters – Kamozawa Juri, Asakawa Nana, Wakida, and Shimada Kohei – played by talented actors such as Shiraishi Haruka, Iwami Manaka, Minagawa Sarutoki, and Tsuda Kenjiro, as well as their relationships with the three main characters.
Kamozawa Juri is 20 years old, the same age as the three main characters. She is a strong-willed, big sister type who acts as Nana’s bodyguard and is the type to say things clearly. Her voice is provided by Shiraishi Haruka, who made her voice acting debut in “From Up on Poppy Hill” (2011) and has appeared in many popular works such as the “Golden Kamuy” series.
Regarding the film, he commented, “Touching is a story in which, through the power of mysterious creatures, you can ‘realize the important things that should never be taken for granted.’ I think watching the film will make you want to see your family and friends, so be sure to invite someone you care about to see it at the theater!”
Like Kamozawa Juri, Asakawa Nana is 20 years old and a former fashion student. She is kind to everyone and has a people-pleaser side. She meets Aki and the others along with Juri and deepens their friendship. Nana’s voice is played by Iwami Manaka, who has appeared in a number of hits including the currently airing “Oshi no Ko” and “The Demon King’s Strongest Magician Was Human.” Iwami, who is known for becoming a voice actress after being moved by the performance of Honma Meiko in “Anohana,” says that one of her biggest dreams was to appear in a work created by the creators of “Anohana.”
Regarding the film, he said, “With the increasing number of convenient tools, opportunities to look someone in the eye and express feelings are becoming fewer and fewer, so this is a film that I would like as many people as possible to experience. The mysterious creature, Fureru, is also very cute, so I hope you will all look forward to the release of ‘Fureru’ with me.”
Wakita is Aki, Ryo and Yuta’s teacher from their school days. He is easygoing, friendly and likes alcohol. The role of Wakita is played by Sarutoki Minagawa, who has played a variety of unique roles, including in the TV drama “Amachan” (2013) and “Yowamushi Pedal” (2020) with Ren Nagase and Ryuta Bando, and is also well-known for his narration and anime voice acting.
She apparently made her debut as a voice actress in an animated feature film with this work, saying, “At 53 years old, this is my first time trying my hand at voice acting in an animated feature film! I was extremely excited. Wow, I think my voice turned out even louder than usual.” After recording her voice, she revealed her anticipation for the film’s release, saying, “I can’t wait to see ‘Touch’ in the cinema!!! I’m even more excited now (laughs). I’m so happy.”
Shimada Kohei is a teacher at a fashion school and the assistant teacher of Yuta’s class, who becomes interested in Yuta after a certain incident. The voice actor is Tsuda Kenjiro, who has worked as a voice actor and actor in popular works such as the “Jujutsu Kaisen” series and the live-action film “My Home Hero” (2024), but is also active in a wide range of fields, including as a narrator, stage performer, recitation theater, video director and producer.
Regarding the film, he commented, “It feels like it places reality in the gap between animation and live action, but at the same time, it does something that can only be done in animation, and that’s what’s interesting. The people I’m playing are also edgy and interesting. I hope everyone enjoys this modern, yet universal film.” He shared his expectations for the film, which he was able to sense only through his acting experience.
