With the release date about two weeks away, a new trailer for this work has finally been released in time for “Get Wild Day” on April 8th!
As the ending theme TM NETWORK “Get Wild Continual” plays, the streets of Reiwa Shinjuku Kabukicho, the setting of the story, are projected, the familiar red Mini Cooper of City Hunter, a Shinjuku message board with XYZ written on it, and, The video starts with the main character, Ryo Saeba, played by Ryohei Suzuki, saying “Please wait.”
While investigating Kurumi (Hanamura Asuka), a famous cosplayer who has received a search request, Ryo gets involved in a mysterious incident and comes face to face with the death of his partner Makimura. Makimura’s younger sister, Kaori, asks Ryo why his brother died and the truth behind his death. Meanwhile, it turns out that a mysterious drug called Angel Dust is involved in the violent incidents that broke out in Shinjuku around the same time, and that Kurumi holds the key to the drug.
Ryo, who does not want Kaori to get involved in a dangerous incident, continues to avoid Kaori, but in order to uncover the truth behind Makimura’s death, he and Kaori begin to work together to solve the case.
In addition, additional cast members include Tetta Sugimoto as Akitaka Ito, the boss of Saeko Nogami, a detective at the Metropolitan Police Department, and the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division, and Mizusaki as Tsukino Seta, the president of a famous cosmetics brand who asks Kurumi to perform at a cosplay event. Takaya Sakoda has been chosen to play Kunio Konno, Ayame and President Seta’s secretary.
◆ Impressions of the Netflix movie “City Hunter”
It was fun and really interesting. This is the first time a live-action movie has been made in Japan, but I think I understand why overseas fans say, It has to be in Shinjuku.'' I think everyone's idea of City Hunter” is the image of a group of people running around in Shinjuku. I think many people will be able to experience the excitement of being able to see this as reality.
