The charm of this series goes beyond just being a romantic comedy. From here on, the battle of words begins – An interview with Saya Aizawa, who plays Ayano Kimijima in “My Neighbor, Arya-san, Who Sometimes Whispers in Russian” [Series Part 5]The TV anime “Alya-san, my neighbor, sometimes whispers sweet nothings in Russian” will begin airing on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Although Alya usually gives a cold look, she sometimes whispers sweet nothings in Russian. Meanwhile, Kuze Masachika, who has native-level Russian listening skills, pretends not to notice the meaning of the words being spoken to him. What will become of their love story?

To commemorate the broadcast, Animate Times is running a series of email interviews with the main cast!

The fifth guest is Saya Aizawa, who plays Ayano Kimijima. She talks about the appeal of the series and her character, as well as some episodes from acting.

–What do you think is appealing about the work “Rosidere”?

Saya Aizawa, who plays Ayano Kimijima (hereafter, Aizawa): “Sometimes she whispers in Russian to get all lovey-dovey.” Just like the title says. Aarya thinks she can’t understand, while Masachika knows everything. What will happen to their relationship if she finds out that she knows?

As a viewer, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement. On the other hand, various factors such as family circumstances, competitions as the student council, the characters’ complexes and pasts are all intertwined, and these are portrayed thoroughly, so I think the fact that it doesn’t just end as a romantic comedy is also an appealing aspect of the show.

— Regarding the character you play, Kimijima Ayano, please tell us anything you paid attention to or struggled with when acting.

Aizawa: From the time of the audition, I was told to “control your emotions, control them.” Although Ayano lives her life as a servant, she is a proper human being. So if I suppress my emotions too much, those parts disappear, so I felt it was very difficult to make the fine adjustments.

— I think Ayano is a character with a lot of unique lines. Were there any lines that left an impression on you while you were acting? Also, what do you find fun and rewarding about acting?

Aizawa: As a “Super Masochist (Super Maid),” her choice of words comes flying at you from an unexpected direction, making you realize that she is truly a maid who supports Yuki-sama. I especially love her comment in the final episode, which doesn’t read the mood, so I hope you’ll look forward to it. She’s silly, but she doesn’t think of it that way, so it was fun to make everyone laugh with a straight face.

–What do you find attractive about Ayano’s master, Suou Yuki?

Aizawa: Her ladylike mode, little sister mode, everything about her is just like Yuki. She’s not a completely different person, and she’s not acting. That’s what makes her so lovable.

–I think you joined the recording midway through, but what was the atmosphere like on set?

Aizawa: Everyone was friendly and chattering nonstop, so I felt at home right away. I think it was the same experience as an event or radio show.
