This time, the dubbed version of the main movie has been released! It is a scene where Shinpai imagines various possible futures for his beloved Riley and makes plans.
With the film finally being released in Japan on Thursday, August 1st, a scene from the dubbed version has been released in which Shinpai, a character with adult emotions voiced by Tabe Mikako, “imagines the worst possible future and frantically makes preparations” for the main character, Riley!
This work depicts what goes on in your mind when you feel anxious and start imagining the worst possible future.
The scene that was released shows Shinpai and Yorokobi how he imagines various possible futures for his beloved Riley and makes plans for them. Shinpai’s new role within Riley is to “protect her from things she cannot see yet, and make plans for the future.” When Shinpai operates the emotion control desk in his head, data that predicts what will happen in the future based on an analysis of events that have happened to Riley so far is displayed on the monitor.
Shinpai predicted that Riley’s future would be the worst possible one: he would be disliked by the senior student he admired, would not be able to join the hockey team he had his sights set on, would be alone at the high school he enrolled in without making any friends, and only his teachers at school would know his name…
When you worry too much and think of all the bad things, your worries are surely simulating the future in your head. Riley, who is worried about the future, misses out on her best friend, tries to be friendly with a senior at her new school but ends up overreaching and failing, and feels down when comparing herself to others. Be sure to see the most touching and tender ending in Pixar history, which will make you love even your flaws.
Released in theaters nationwide on Thursday, August 1st
Distributor: Walt Disney Japan
