Both of them talk about the deep “connection” they have with golf.
“Oi! “Tonbo” is based on a manga currently being serialized in Weekly Golf Digest, a specialized magazine for deeply enjoying golf, written by Ken Kawasaki and illustrated by Kosuke Furusawa.
Set in the Tokara Archipelago in Kagoshima Prefecture, this is the story of Tombo Oi, a girl who grew up carefree on the island. After meeting former professional golfer Ichiga Igarashi, she discovers her talent for golf and goes on to master it.
Rika Hayashi plays the role of Tonbo, making her first lead role after four years since her debut. Hiroki Higashichi plays the role of Igarashi, who guides Tombo into the world of golf.
Before the broadcast on BS Shochiku Tokyu, we received comments from the two.
“Actually, my mother used to be a caddy, so I made my debut as a caddy when I was in elementary school (lol). I went looking for a 3-iron just like Tombo. I also tried practicing swinging at home, just as Igaiga (Igarashi) explained. As a girl who enjoys playing golf, experiencing golf myself was a part of preparing for the role. During the dubbing for the second and third episodes of this work, a golf broadcast was played. The trajectory of the ball was displayed on the TV, and when I saw the meaning of it, I was reminded of the greatness of the players’ one-shots.There are a lot of cute clothes for women being released these days, so I’ll buy them someday. I want to go around the course.To that end, I will grow together with Tombo!”
“I started playing golf when I was in high school because my father is a golf fan.At that time, the player I looked up to was Naomichi Ozaki.Of course he was cool, but he also had a similar body type to me. The reason for this is that he plays crisp golf.By the way, his best score is 75.I haven’t been able to play for about 20 years, but after encountering this work, I’m thinking of starting playing again. It’s been a long time, but I watch all the golf tournaments when I have time! During the Masters, I watched them until the last minute before I had to go to work, and I lost sleep (lol).
